“Within two hours of where I live you have mountains and desert as location.
I like the natural elements that abstract into light, texture, shape and shadow.”
~ Herb Ritts
If you are unfamiliar with the work of Herb Ritts (August 13, 1952 – December 26, 2002), then click here. It may be a bit controversial for some people, but if you want to learn about light and black/white photography, his images will astound you.
Ok, I think it is so interesting that today’s theme is “texture” because my friend/mentor, Nichole Van, is releasing her new Tints and Textures Action Set today.
“Insert a texture into your photo in just seconds! Create a vintage mini-masterpiece in less time than it takes you to read this. This fabulous new Tints and Textures set includes yummy vintage tone actions and 12 high-res texture files. But best of all, this set includes a Texture Palette. The Texture Palette opens a palette of the 12 textures, allowing you to choose which one you want to use. From there, the action inserts the choosen texture into your photo, resizes it to perfectly fit your photo, separates the color of the texture from the texture itself (a VERY useful thing) and then allows you to adjust the exposure of the texture to match that of your photo. All in less than 15 seconds. Wow!! You can see the Texture Palette in action here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKuNuJ88bRI“
Here is the above photo with a texture & tint application and yes, it only took a FEW seconds. A couple of clicks and you are done. I have never seen an action that uses texture application like this, it’s amazing.
To all my readers, I have a special 20% off coupon code for you today: GinaTexture and it is good through the end of the month.

If you are unfamiliar with Nichole Van, she recently won the Grand Award at Imaging USA and her print has been accepted into the 2011 PPA Loan Collection (only 10 make it per category!) Click here to read more about this award, she is beyond awesome.
I hope you enjoy seeing various textures in photography by going through our circle this week. Let’s begin with St. Louis Photographer Sara Tegman and see her application of “texture” to photography. Have a great weekend, ya’ll!
