fifty-two on fridays: [41] morning

“Watching the sun rise over the ocean is making it easy for me to wake up and get out of bed.
I’m not jumping up to take a shower or go to work. I’m jumping up to greet the majesty of the day, of God, of me.
The majesty reminds me that God’s in his heaven … and so am I. And, heaven is a lovely place to start the day, a lovely place to live.” ~ Jan Denise

Last Tuesday, I had an appointment in L.A.  I wanted to avoided the morning traffic, so I left my house in Arroyo Grande before 5am.  I shot this right when the sun was rising at a vista point on the 101 freeway, just south of Santa Barbara.  I remember having a lot of thoughts while taking this photo because there was so much to take in… the colors of the sky, the lone sailboat, the red lights of the cars on the freeway, the telephone poles, the fog, the water…  yet at the same time, it was quite simple.  Just a snapshot of the Pacific Ocean at sunrise.  I closed my eyes for a second and thanked God for a beautiful morning and a new day and promised myself I would wake up to see the sunrise at least a few times during the year.  (This is a big promise because everyone knows I am a night owl, haha)

I’m excited to see what images my friends have made for this week’s theme.  Let’s head on over to a place I used to live 7 years ago and see what Shannon Harrison | Temecula, CA Photographer has in store for us.  Enjoy your morning!!
