Fifty-two on Friday : [25] Emotion

“A work of art which did not begin in emotion is not art.” ~ Paul Cezanne

I can’t believe it is week 25 of this project. For those of you who are new, click here to see what “Fifty-two on Friday” is all about. This week’s theme is emotion. I love that photography captures and evokes emotion. I can’t wait to see what my fellow photographers did with this week’s theme. Let’s head to the east coast and start with Memphis, Tennesee Photographer Kara Jo!!  Hope you all are having a great summer!!

Buzz at the Barber Shop

My son wanted to shave off his head for the summer, so I said, “LET’S DO IT”!!  I love his new look.  Here’s a look at this day…

Featured!!

I am so honored to be featured with some of my favorite photographers on “Inspire Me Baby“!!  I am “extra” excited that my friend Jules was featured with me amongst the group of 12.  Thank you so very much!!  Have a great week, everyone!!

Fifty-two on Friday : [24] Whimsical

“You must not ever stop being whimsical.
And you must not, ever, give anyone else the responsibility for your life.” ~ Mary Oliver

If you’ve ever met me in person, you would know that I am quite short. Five feet one and a half to be exact. Yes, I had to add that half an inch. My husband once told me that he wasn’t going to date anyone under 5’3″.  He is 6 feet and when we stand next to each other, it just doesn’t look right, lol.  When we were dating, I always wore high heels. REALLY, REALLY HIGH heels. So, maybe this photo is about my desire to be taller, lol, who knows? “Whimsical” is kind of a hard one, don’t you think?  I don’t know, lol…

I feel like our circle is going to be very diverse this week, so I am very excited.  Let’s start with Dallas, TX Photographer, Jolie Starrett!!  Have a great Father’s Day weekend, everyone!!

아빠 (Dad in Korean), if you are reading this, HAPPY FATHER’S DAY, I LOVE YOU!! (He’s in Kenya on a mission trip, but checks my blog daily, so hopefully he has internet access there?!!)

Fifty-two on Friday : [23] Macro

“To me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place…
I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.” ~ Elliott Erwin

What is macro photography? I am a beginner when it comes to this genre, so I decided to figure out the definition before I began this assignment.

“Macro, by definition, is photography at 1x magnification and above. Anything less would be defined as “close-ups” rather than “macro”. 1x magnification or life-size, is usually written as 1.1. Life-size means that the subject you are photographing appears the exact same size on film as it does in real life.” ~ Tom Hicks

This project has really pushed me to attempt photos that are out of my comfort zone. I finally decided to photograph an orchid reflection within a water droplet. Seriously, hats off to all macro photographers out there. For me, personally, it was draining and I barely got this shot, which is far from perfect.

Let’s dive into the world of macro photography by going through our weekly circle… start with Dallas, TX Photographer, Jolie Starrett!! Have a great weekend, everyone!! Bring on SUMMER!!
